Pool Party        

Thursday night at 5:30 we'll break out the barbeque and swim and splash together to celebrate the next four days!   Veggieburgers, hamburgers, hots dogs, green salad, chips and beverages will be provided until we run out.  This will be a great time to mingle, relax and connect.  Be sure to bring your floaties for an outdoor movie by the pool as the sun goes down!   

  

Surfing Lesson        

Make the conference a true California experience with a surfing lesson. Led by professional surfing instructors from Fulcrum Surf. Scheduled for Friday, September 9 from 10am-Noon at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar. This is a good location for beginners and also has good breaks for those more advanced. Take advantage of this great opportunity for all ages to learn the basics, get in the water and catch a wave or two! Fee is $50 per person; wetsuits and surfboards provided.

  

Beach Potluck Party

What visit to Southern California is complete without a party at the beach? We'll take a break on Friday afternoon to gather at Torrey Pines Beach, about a mile away. We can play in the sand and have lots of good conversation. This is a great opportunity to relax mid-conference and mingle with everyone, make new friends and greet familiar faces. Sit for a bit and soak up some sunshine, dig your toes in the sand and jump a few waves. Grab a few buddies and hike up into the reserve area for some beautiful ocean views.  We'll be having a potluck so bring something to share.  Bring your guitar or your drums and serenade the sunset with your unschooling community.   Group photo at 4:00- be there!  (photo © Mandy Sicard, but you can come take your own!)

 

Blissed Out Moms Session

Dads have the SSUDs and now we have the BOMS for the moms! A gift of deep relaxation to unschooling moms in appreciation for all you do. Experience Cymatics- Vibrational Sound Healing, a performance by Richard Learmont, Sound Alchemist, as he takes you on a powerful sound journey through ancient sacred instruments that offers you the freedom to relax deeply, balance your nervous system, connect with your essence and much more...a beautiful way to honor yourself.  Richard is an Energy Medicine Specialist and the founder of R E S T (Restorative Entrainment Sound Treatment).  He specializes in dismantling the limitations of childhood conditionings, allowing you to live a new kind of life, free from the core dynamics of human suffering. A Master in Cymatics- Vibrational Sound Healing techniques and a new breakthrough technology; Conscious Awareness Method.  A two hour session scheduled for Saturday at 5:30pm, please bring a yoga mat, blanket, towel, etc to lie on.

 

Open Mic Night

Have a talent you'd like to share?  We'd love to see it so on Saturday night, the stage is open for anyone who wants to sing, dance, tell a story, perform a skit, play a song.  We'll provide the mic, you provide the show! 

 

 

 

 

Ace of Cakes

Kids, grab your spatula and bring your imagination!  It's time to unleash your creativity and teamwork to build and decorate cakes.  Form a team, collaborate on a design and get to work!  Cakes and icing will be provided.  You bring whatever tools, props, embellishments and decorations you'd like to use to trick out your cake in a unique expression of fun!  Saturday night at 7:00.

 

 

  Amy Under the Stars Concert

An outdoor private concert you'll never forget!  The joyful, soulful, inspiring, amazing Amy Steinberg will be joining us Sunday evening to perform from her wide collection of energetic music.  With her new CD Love Divine and favorite classic songs, Amy will move you with her lyrics and have you dancing on your feet with her irresistible vibe.  Her larger-than-life energy is beyond description and she will grab you with her charm, grace and humor.  One reviewer wrote, "Amy's powerful, raw and incredible vocals are reminiscent of Joplin, Midler and DiFranco.  She sings the innermost thoughts of our "real life" but strong hearts while riddling radical rhythms and true lyrical musianship.  She is an artist, a poet and not just self proclaimed goddess."   We'll pass a hat as a love offering to this talented artist.  

 

 Post Conference Picnic 

Stay through Monday for a picnic and gather up all those good feelings before you say, "So long for now." Meet at noon at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar near the playground.  This park offers a large grassy area, a playground and the beach; the perfect spot for one last hurrah and Nitrogen Ice Cream!
